When I look back over the last 10 years, it’s amazing how life unfolds. Prospective Employers always ask - so where do you see yourself in ten years? And we all have a nice little prepared answer. But guess what, life happens in those ten years and your choices can become quite different.
For me that happened on a pivotal day, which everyone knows about -- Sept 11, 2001. This day had an impact on so many to some extent. But for me it was huge, since I worked in Two World Trade. Surviving this trauma was a turning point – you might say a defining moment. Needless to say, that day and the days that followed opened my eyes. I had my work cut out for me. My stress levels needed to come way down. For the first time I had to put me first, get myself back and I didn’t have a clue how.
My quest led me to alternative medicine. I saw a hypnotist who helped me sleep normally again. I saw an energy healer who helped me get rid of my panic attacks. I was getting the answers to my prayers that I so desperately wanted. And I was learning to take control.
I started to learn more and more about the power of the mind and how we can use it to overcome all kinds of things in our life. I began doing meditation, visualizations, yoga, and slowly peace began to take residence in my body again.
I came across the Bach Flowers in a Vibrational Medicine book. When I read about flowers having energetic abilities to heal emotions, I was fascinated. I love flowers. And to think they not only make you happy looking at them, they make you happier taking them. What a notion. I had to learn more. I was especially attracted to the fact that they are natural, non addictive and safe - right up my alley. So I took three Bach Flower Education courses and now I am an internationally registered practitioner with the foundation. I take the flowers when I need them and give them to my loved ones including my pets and my plants. I am still amazed at how they work. My only wish, is that I had them growing up. They sure would have made life easier.
In addition to sparking an interest in alternative medicine, 9/11 also opened me up spiritually. I prayed a lot more and started to make a conscious effort to live, to love, and to be grateful. I now have a renewed appreciation for life. I know this new found appreciation and spiritual connection opened me up to receiving universal energy. Actually it came as a very welcome surprise.
It happened because of my dog, Gizmo, who I loved so dearly, and who was not well. I wanted desperately to help her and something fascinating happened. Energetic pulsations flowed from my hands whenever she came to me and Gizmo loved them. It would put her to sleep and keep her calm despite her ailments. I knew it was a special gift that was born out of my love and intent, one that I then began to use on all my loved ones. I took Reiki classes at the New York International Reiki Center to learn more about energy healing and to become fully attuned. I can’t think of something more beautiful than to perform a living prayer and pass peace onto someone or something.
The quest for peace isn't easy, especially when challenging things happen. So it’s great to know that there is help out there when we need it. Just remember you are not alone in the process.
Attaining inner peace, should be all of our personal goals. So allow me to use what I now know to help you, and let’s embody serenity together. Just think for one moment what a world we could have, if each one of us takes the time to care for ourselves, calm our fears, release our turmoil and attain inner peace --- to open our eyes and start living. What a blessing that would be.
